Platform and region check table

RefVPN covers 120+ countries and 190+ routes. Coverage describes the network’s reach; it does not mean every route is recognized as local by every platform.

Available service information does not include playback test results for each platform in each region, so no region in the table below is marked as confirmed. “Not verified” means there is not enough evidence to promise playback, not that the platform cannot be used. Suggested routes offer a selection method, not a dedicated route or verified access result.

PlatformRegion to checkAvailabilitySuggested route & what to verify
NetflixRegion of the library containing the titleNot verifiedChoose an exit in the relevant region and test whether the title plays
Disney+Region where the platform offers serviceNot verifiedCheck local service availability first, then verify your account and exit region
HBO MaxService region linked to the accountNot verifiedCheck the local product name, account eligibility and playback messages
HuluUnited States; Japan has a separate serviceNot verifiedChoose an exit for the account’s service region and check for household location verification
YouTube PremiumRegion where the membership appliesNot verifiedCheck membership eligibility; being able to play a video does not mean membership benefits are available
Prime VideoRegion associated with the account and title rightsNot verifiedCheck the store region, title availability and any proxy detection messages
BBC iPlayerUnited KingdomNot verifiedConfirm a UK route is available, then check local viewing eligibility requirements

When testing, note the platform, exit region, route name and exact message. The language, recommendations or region label on a home page cannot confirm access to the full library. Some platforms retain recommendations from your existing account; others show different results based on content rights, travel status or account region. Check the playback page for the title you want to watch.

What does access depend on?

A site loading does not mean its content will play

Streaming pages, sign-in services, cover images and video delivery may use different network endpoints. If a page loads, only some requests are confirmed to be reachable. Playback may still trigger a region message, an account eligibility warning or a failed media request. Troubleshooting should identify whether the issue occurs at sign-in, while browsing for titles or during video loading—not assume every problem is caused by route speed.

In everyday use, “access” usually means the platform allows region-specific content to be viewed on the current network. It does not provide a paid membership or change who owns the rights to a title. Membership tier, rentals, age settings, household restrictions and device authorization remain under the platform’s control; a network route cannot replace these requirements.

Region detection may involve more than your exit IP

An exit IP is a common signal for determining region, but it is not the only one. Platforms may also consider account settings, payment region, device location permissions, existing sessions and household location. Changing your exit does not automatically make your account local, and changing your account region does not mean your existing payment method will work there.

For Netflix, check the title you want to watch—not just the search results. For Disney+ and HBO Max, verify local service availability and account requirements. Hulu may also require household location verification. Check YouTube Premium membership benefits, Prime Video purchases or rentals, and BBC iPlayer viewing eligibility separately.

Native IPs vs. residential IPs: the difference

“Native IP” can mean different things depending on the provider. It usually describes an address whose registration details, geolocation database results and actual exit region are broadly consistent, but it is not a standardized certification. Different databases may place the same address in different regions, and platforms may use their own data. Labels still need to be checked against actual playback.

“Residential IP” usually refers to an address provided by a residential broadband network or classified as residential. The term describes network ownership and usage classification. It is not the opposite of “native”: an address may have consistent regional data but belong to a data center, or be classified as residential while a platform’s location data is out of date.

Neither label guarantees reliable access. Platforms may consider address reputation, shared usage and account behavior; a residential classification does not automatically meet platform rules. This page does not have evidence to label RefVPN routes as residential or native IPs. Check the current details in the user panel and judge by playback on the platform you use.

4K and Dolby Vision quality requirements

Sustained bandwidth must exceed the video’s actual bitrate, with room for fluctuations. Sufficient bandwidth is only one requirement for high-quality playback.

4K refers to image resolution; Dolby Vision is an HDR display technology. They are different specifications. Dolby Vision has no single bandwidth threshold that applies to every title. Actual data needs depend on the platform’s encoding, content complexity and selected bitrate. No single figure can cover every platform. This page does not provide unverified bandwidth numbers; check the target platform’s current help documentation for its minimum requirements.

Network: Check sustained throughput, not just peak speed

Players generally adjust video quality based on buffering and recent download speeds. A high short-term peak followed by fluctuations can still trigger a drop in quality. Starting at a lower resolution may be part of the buffering strategy, not a sign that the route lacks access. Let playback stabilize before checking, and avoid switching routes repeatedly during loading, as each switch can establish a new connection.

Updates and cloud sync on the same device, as well as downloads on other devices, use local bandwidth. Unlimited devices does not mean unlimited capacity on your local network. If playback buffers, pause other tasks and compare the same title on another route in the same region. This makes it easier to isolate the issue than repeatedly changing playback regions.

Device: Check the entire playback chain

Membership tier, title master, app, browser, hardware decoding, DRM and display can all affect maximum video quality. With an external monitor, the cable and content protection chain may also limit output. A high-quality label on the title page does not mean your device is playing at that specification; check the player’s information or the device’s actual output.

If playback is smooth but there is no Dolby Vision indicator, first check the source, device and app support instead of switching routes. If the picture repeatedly turns blurry and buffers, check connection stability. Separating eligibility issues from network issues helps avoid repeated changes to settings that are not relevant.

Common error codes and troubleshooting steps

Error codes can vary by platform, device and app version. The same code may have multiple causes, so the suggestions below are troubleshooting pointers, not a definitive diagnosis. If the message on screen differs from these summaries, follow the platform’s current help guidance first.

Platform & MessageCommon meaningWhat to try first
Netflix:M7111-5059Often indicates proxy or network location detectionNote the current route; check proxy rules and DNS routing, then try another exit in the same region
Disney+: Error Code 73Often indicates a regional availability or location detection issueCheck service region, account eligibility and device location settings
Prime Video:4601Often indicates that the current location does not meet the content’s regional requirementsCheck the title’s licensed regions, account store region and current exit
HBO Max: Region UnavailableThe current region or account does not meet local service requirementsCheck the local service name, account benefits and exit region—not just whether the website loads
Hulu: Household Location MessageHousehold network or location verification requirements have not been metReview the platform’s household location rules; do not treat this as an ordinary buffering issue
YouTube Premium: Membership Benefits IssueMembership status, region or household eligibility may need to be checkedCheck the account’s membership page first, then determine whether the current route is relevant
BBC iPlayer: Not Available at Your LocationRegion detection or viewing eligibility requirements are not metCheck the exit and local usage requirements, then review the platform’s network troubleshooting advice

Change one variable at a time

Keep the exact error message, then confirm the client is connected and traffic from the target app is actually going through the selected route. If the browser and app behave differently, check their proxy rules, caches and location permissions separately. A mismatch between the DNS query path and the media request exit can also cause conflicting region detection. Prefer the client’s own configuration and avoid stacking untrusted network plugins.

Next, try another available route in the same region, then fully quit and reopen the player. If the issue persists, follow the platform’s instructions to clear site data or sign in again. Clearing site data removes your sign-in, so make sure you can log in before doing so. Avoid changing your account region, payment settings and route at the same time; even if the issue goes away, you will not know what fixed it.

For help, open a support ticket in the user panel with the platform name, device OS, route name, exact error message and steps to reproduce. Hide account and payment details in screenshots, and never send your password or full subscription URL. Describing exactly where playback gets stuck helps distinguish network connectivity, platform detection and account eligibility issues.

Choose a route for your viewing needs and check data usage

Decide which title you want to watch and which region applies, then check whether the user panel offers an exit there. If your current route plays reliably, try to keep using it. A shorter route is not necessarily faster for a particular title: media delivery nodes, ISP peering and your local network can all affect playback. Compare using the same title and device to minimize unrelated variables.

RefVPN supports Windows / macOS / iOS / Android / Linux, with unlimited devices connected at the same time. Get clients and subscriptions through the user panel. Whether a particular streaming app can be installed and supports the quality you need still depends on the platform and device. Network service device support does not replace the streaming platform’s own compatibility information.

Monthly plans: ¥9.9/month for 60GB, ¥18/month for 250GB, and ¥28/month for 500GB. Data resets monthly on the activation date; mid-cycle upgrades are prorated by the remaining days. Data packages: ¥158/300GB, ¥358/1000GB and ¥658/3000GB. They do not expire and remain available until used. Bitrate and viewing habits vary, so this page does not convert data into a fixed number of viewing hours.

Payment methods: Alipay / WeChat Pay / USDT. Includes a 30-day money-back guarantee. No email address is required; create an account with a username and password. When comparing plans, check your actual usage in the user panel before choosing a monthly plan or data package. A single test may not reflect usage for every title.
